Penne Hackforth-Jones (Kath Murphy), Julieanne Newbould (Christine Evans), Martin Phelan (Les Cooper), Colwyn Roberts (Evans), Arthur A'Beckett (Harry Parker), Gwynneth Hughes (Mrs Evans), Vernon Wells (Brian Murphy), Dirk Smibert (Michael Parker), Greg Barowski (Young couple: man), Cheryl Smith (Young couple: woman), Christopher Ralph (Constable 1), Louis Seater (Constable 2), Albert Muir (Man with birdcage), Keith Halliwell (Police actor 3), Peter Dixon (Police actor 4), Keith Lawrence (Extra no. 1), and Lyn Ford (Extra no. 2).

The casting call sheets for this episode (held in the Crawford Collection at the AFI Research Collection) show the following information:
Frank Wilson, Roy Lyons, and Shue Hearne were all considered for the role of Harry Parker.
Val Jellay was cast as Mrs Parker, but the part was written out.
Sylvia Martin was also considered for the role of Kathy.
Roger Boyce was cast as 'Constable Jack' before the role was adjusted to 'V.O. Only'.

Location:

  • Flood scenes filmed at Echuca (in Victoria on the New South Wales border): flooding at Echuca had prompted the modification of the script, so that the production could take advantange of actual flood footage.
