Notes

  • Although described in advertising as a burlesque, this Orange Dandies production is more likely to have been staged in the revusical style.

  • Invitation's Out was part of a programme of entertainment put on by John N. McCallum to open Cremorne Theatre under his management and ownership. The Cremorne had been previously owned and operated exclusively by Edward Branscombe. But the two men struck a deal in July 1916, whereby McCallum took over the operations in Brisbane while still allowing Branscombe's Dandies costume comedy company to play the Cremorne. Branscombe also retained some degree of artistic influence over the Dandies during its first and only season under McCallum's management (Brisbane Courier 29 July 1916, p.12).
