AbstractHistoryArchive Description
'Relates the story of a small boy, Len Templeton, who goes to live with his uncle on "Goonambery" Station. The novel is in the sentimental style of the period: an innocent and loveable boy wins over the crusty bachelors and brings joy to everyone. However, Freckles's charm is conveyed with flair, and Daskein's evocation of the countryside during a drought provides a strong picture of a uniquely Australian experience' (Oxford Companion to Australian Children's Literature 124).
