BiographyHistory

Richard Rogers Bowker took over Frederick Leypoldt's magazine Publishers Weekly (started in 1872). Bowker had been working as an editor for Publishers Weekly since 1875. The two were known for their dedication to 'international copyright, cooperation in the trade, the improvement of libraries and postal reform" (Tebbel Vol 2 592). A time line from the company's website documents the company's mergers and milestones. In 2006, Bowker's website states that Bowker 'offers a wide range of specialized, and broadly-applicable, reference and reporting products and services' (http://www.bowker.com/company/about.htm)
