BiographyHistory

John P. O'Donnell, an Irish-Australian, was working as a bank clerk in South Australia at the outbreak of World War I. He became a corporal in the 10th Battalion, 3rd Brigade, 1st Division, Australian Forces. He served at Gallipoli (including the Anzac Day landing) and in England and France. His twin brother Thomas O'Donnell was killed in September 1917 in Flanders.
