In the 'Afterpiece,' the author writes:

'The poems selected for this volume range from serious attempts at poetry to serious attempts at saving money on cards for special occasions. All are true reflections of real incidents... even 'Early One Thursday Morning.'

In relation to the song lyrics he further notes:

'[They] do not always sit easily on a page alone, unless of course when written by the Paul Kellys and Bernie Taupins of this world. Music somehow gives even mundane words energy and pizzazz, while also often forcing rhymes and rhythms, and masculine and feminine endings to phrases that might in pure poetry be expressed otherwise. The lyrics chosen here are those which I believe have some life, however limited, beyond musical expression - whether through metre, imagery, word play or simply the idea expressed. I'll leave it to you the reader to judge whether they succeed or not' (p37).

The Northern Tablelands Music Industry Archive (NTMIA) was established in November 2008 by the independent publisher Have Gravity Will Threaten. The site serves as an historical archive that celebrates the efforts and achievements of those individuals (and businesses) who helped keep the Northern Tablelands of New South Wales music scene alive and happening during a significant period in the Australian music industry's history. The site provides internal access to biographical information on musicians, songwriters, managers, and associated industry practitioners. It also comprises filmographies and discographies, images, ephemera (posters etc.), digital recordings, and video, as well as poetry and memoir. In addition, there are numerous links to outside resources, including commercial websites (e.g., band sites and YouTube) and private websites and blogs.

The concept behind the Northern Tablelands Music Industry Archive is the establishing of a research community. Anyone with information or materials relating to the archive is invited to contribute.

Authors and organisations with entries in the NTMIA and which are also represented in AustLit include Clay Djubal, David Lennon, Peter Mitchell, Jo-ann Simmons, and Some Trippin' Diggers.

Set in 1840 on the mythical island of Canberra. For sixty years the island has been the dumping ground for students, the unemployed, musicians, poets and other social riff-raff. The government universities, pubs and coffee shops that were established to implement strict social control experiments have failed. In an effort to re-establish conformity amongst the country's citizens, razor gangs from the Ministry of Social Reform have orchestrated a major slashing campaign to all areas of the island's economic funding. It is the story of a greed, lust, power, revenge, sex, murder, heroism, betrayal and true love, focusing on a small band of student revolutionaries led by Hanrahan and their fight against the evil Colonel Alistair MacJones.

Conceived and developed as a low budget production suitable for university or high school students, 'The Last Word', has been adapted from a work-in-progress melodrama text by Brisbane-based writer, Cameron Davies. The musical score is essentially rock/pop in style.
