BiographyHistory

Considered by many critics to be 'the thought and direction of American science fiction,' writer and editor John Wood Campbell, Jr. took over the editorship of Astounding Science Fiction (later known as Analog) in 1937. Through this position he played a major role in helping shape the development of the genre during its 'golden age' (1938-1946). Campbell remained editor of the magazine until his death in 1971.

Campbell wrote under the name Don A. Stuart up until becoming editor of Astounding.
