Gayne Dexter is now best remember for writing two Ken G. Hall (q.v.) films during the early 1930s - these being The Squatter's Daughter (1933) which he co-wrote with E. V. Timms(q.v.) and The Silence of Dean Maitland (1934), co-written with Edmund Barclay (q.v.). Dexter is believed to have begun career in the Australian industry during the 1920s. The earliest credits identified with his name is the 1928 silent film The Romance of Runnibede, for which he wrote the intertitles. His association with Hall began shortly after he returned from New York where he had worked for some time as a publicist and writer.
